Who We Are
The campaign for a community radio station serving the borough of Newham began in 1989 with NuSound, formerly known as Star Sound Radio. The station’s first Restricted Service Licence (RSL) broadcast took place in 1991, followed by a number of successful RSL broadcasts in subsequent years.
These experiences gave us a unique understanding of both the radio industry and the diverse communities we serve. Over the years, NuSound has built strong relationships with a wide range of community organisations and has actively supported local start-up businesses.
We continue to provide training and development opportunities for aspiring local radio presenters, helping to nurture new talent while ensuring that the voices of Newham’s communities are heard and represented on air.
